What is FIFA? Full Meaning Of FIFA
Full Meaning Of FIFA
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is an association governed by Swiss law founded in 1904 and based in Zurich. It has 211 member associations and its goal, enshrined in its Statutes, is the constant improvement of football.
HOME OF FIFA
The Home of FIFA is the headquarters of the world’s governing body of football. This exceptional building by Swiss architect Tilla Theus is also symbolically the home of the international football community, of the 211 member associations and the 270 million players, coaches, referees and other participants around the world.
Administration, training, conference, logistics and sports centre in one, the building is impressive in how it blends harmoniously into its park-like surroundings. Out of respect for the environment, the forest clearings and the recreation areas were left intact.
FIFA'S ADMINISTRATION
FIFA's administration is carried out by the General Secretariat, which employs some 400 staff members in Zurich, Switzerland. At its head is the FIFA Secretary General, who is responsible for implementing the decisions of the Executive Committee.
The Secretary General is also responsible for FIFA's finances, international relations, the organisation of the FIFA World Cup™, and other FIFA football competitions.
The General Secretariat is comprised of divisions dealing with development, competitions, football administration, finance, business, personnel, services and communications.
Why is FIFA important ?
Organized
football is played everywhere and most of its 209 members run their own
domestic competitions. Most of those competitions are professional, and
globally the sport generates hundreds of billions of dollars every year.
FIFA estimates that around 500 million people in the world are
connected to football in some capacity either through playing the game,
officiating, unning clubs or merely going to watch a match.
By remaining strong and unifying the vastly different elements
in its membership FIFA ensures the game remains universal without rival organizations trying to form breakaway leagues and championships as they have
done in other sports.

Where does the money come from ?
FIFA’s accounts show it has around $US1.5 billion in the bank. Most of its wealth is accrued by selling the rights to screen World Cup matches to television stations around the world and from the sponsorship it receives from blue-chip global corporations.FIFA though, is essentially, a non-profit making organization with most of the money it receives directed towards development program around the world and by subsidizing its members with annual grants and regular bonus payments from its World Cup income. It also uses money so it can run itself from its modern headquarters in Zurich by paying its staff, its president and the men who are on the executive and other committees that keep it functioning.
What is the future for FIFA ?
FIFA has the ability to, as Blatter likes to say, and often does, “steer itself out of the choppy waters into the safe harbor.”
FIFA, which is 111 years old, is seen by many around the world as a benevolent organization that supports the game from the grass roots level to the top of the professional pyramid and while it continues to support its members, its members will never leave.
